PRAIRIEVILLE — A Baton Rouge woman and her 1-year-old son were killed Saturday morning in a crash on La. 928 in Ascension Parish, a State Police spokesman said.
Hiromi Dille, 41, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic west on La. 928 between La. 74 and La. 427 around 11 a.m. when, for reasons unknown, the car left the road, hit a driveway embankment, and went airborne, Trooper Evan Harrell said in a news release.
The car rolled slightly in the air and hit a tree, Harrell said.
Both Dille and her infant son were taken to a hospital, where they died from their injuries, Harrell said.
The boy’s name was not released.
Troopers do not believe alcohol was a factor, but a blood sample was taken from Dille, Harrell said.
Dille was wearing a seat belt and her son was restrained in a child safety seat at the time of the crash, Harrell said.
The incident remains under investigation, Harrell said.
