Government Street store held up

Police are looking for a man who robbed the Dollar General Store at 5652 Government St. late Sunday.

The man walked into the business at 10 p.m. armed with a handgun and demanding money, police spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said Monday.

The robber left in a silver Oldsmobile Alero with a temporary tag instead of a license plate, Stubbs said.

The robber was described as a black man, slim and between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches tall, and wearing all black clothing, Stubbs said.

Suspect wanted

Zachary police are looking for a woman suspected of using a stolen debit card to make purchases May 17 at the Walgreen Drug Store in Zachary, Police Chief David McDavid said Monday. The debit card’s owner mistakenly left her wallet in a shopping cart at the Baker Wal-Mart store, and the woman in this photo is suspected of using a card taken from the wallet, McDavid said.

1 booked with DWI in EBR Parish Prison

Authorities arrested at least one person suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked her into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday, booking records show.

Monica Hayes, 28, 2246 Stonewood Drive, was booked on one count each of first-offense DWI and failure to maintain control.

police, remember he is armed. do not take any chances when apprehending him. if in doubt, shoot first. better to explain your position, than being dead and saying nothing.
