Michelle Sorrells, of Walters, Papillion, Thomas, Cullens LLC in Baton Rouge, was presented the President's Award by the Louisiana Bar Foundation. The award recognizes outstanding support, volunteer service, dedication and the advancement of the mission and goals of the LBF. Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corp. received the LBF's Horn Blower Award, given to a partner organization in recognition of outstanding support and leadership as a leading partner in the LBF Kids' Chance Scholarship Program.
Pat Van Burkleo, president and chief professional officer of the Boys & Girls Club of GreaterBaton Rouge, has been named the National Executive of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The American Advertising Federation-Baton Rouge has been named AAF District 7 Division III Club of the Year. Its president, Connie McLeod, received President of the Year. McLeod is senior graphic designer for Woman's Hospital. In district Addy advertising award competition, Tilt won a gold, and silvers went to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Tilt and Zehnder Communications. A gold student Addy went to Lorin Michelle Stumph and silvers to Courtney Wilburn and the LSU College of Art and Design GDSO.
West Feliciana High School senior Tyra Morrison, of St. Francisville, owner of Tyra's Tasty Treats, was presented a National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation award. The scholarship program is designed to reward and encourage entrepreneurial talents among high school students.
