Opelousas woman booked on pot count

Bringing a bag of marijuana to a police station is not a smart idea, police say.

An Opelousas woman has been arrested and booked with possession of marijuana.

Police Chief Perry Gallow said Jernita Williams, 31, went to the station at about 4:30 p.m. Monday to file a complaint against an individual.

But after she left, Gallow said, officers noticed a small bag of marijuana on the floor near the chair where Williams had been sitting.

Gallow said officers reviewed video from security cameras and it was clear that the marijuana had fallen from Williams’ clothing.

He said Williams was contacted Tuesday and was asked to return to the office, where she was booked for possession of marijuana.

It could not be determined if Williamson has an attorney.

Mexican nationals held on drug counts

Two men remain in the Eunice City Jail after being arrested on multiple drug charges. Police say $56,700 in cash was seized following a weekend operation in Eunice.

Mexican nationals Manuel Cuellar-Martinez and Jose Luis Cuellar-Zamarron were booked with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of Lortab, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of a weapon and violation of a drug free zone.

A search of a home turned up about an ounce of cocaine, three ounces of marijuana, a Lortab pill and a digital scale containing what police believe is cocaine and marijuana residue.

A loaded .22-cal. revolver and more than 100 rounds of ammunition were also recovered at the scene.
