Business Honors for May 13, 2012

James C. “Jim” Brandt, former president of the Public Affairs Research Council, was awarded the Frederick P. Gruenberg Award by the Governmental Research Association for his contributions to and longtime service in governmental research.

The Acadian Home Builders Association and KATC-TV3 in Lafayette received the Communitas Award for Philanthropy from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international competition recognizes excellence in community service, social responsibility and philanthropy. AHBA and TV-3 were recognized for the annual Home for the Holidays charitable raffle home project.

Trahan Architects design of a mixed-use development, which includes a hotel in the historic city center of Zhengzhou, China, was named by Forbes.com as one of seven “spectacularly designed” hotels of the future that are on the cutting edge of architectural trends.

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo was granted accreditation by The Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ independent Accreditation Commission, based on a review for meeting AZA standards, which include animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, education programs and safety.

Lamar Advertising Co. received a Gold OBIE Award from the Outdoor Advertising Association of America for Lamar’s Milwaukee Public Library billboard campaign, which incorporated the look of popular social websites Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to remind Wisconsinites about the resources offered at their local library.
