Deputies seek suspect in store robbery
LIVINGSTON — Deputies obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday in connection with the armed robbery on Tuesday of Babe’s Corner Grocery and Deli, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
Babe’s is located at La. 449 and La. 63.
Deputies already had arrested one man in their investigation of the robbery, according to a press release.
A man wearing a mask entered the store Tuesday morning, jumped the counter and took an undetermined amount of cash before escaping in the back of a light-blue Ford pickup, deputies said.
On Tuesday afternoon, deputies arrested John W. Shelton, 22, of 37864 Red Goff Road in Walker, as a principal to armed robbery, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Detectives subsequently obtained an armed-robbery warrant for the arrest of J.W. “Wayne” Riggins, 32, whose last known address was on North Morgan Road in Walker, deputies said.
They described Riggins as a man with brown hair and brown eyes weighing about 150 pounds and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
