Sheriff seeks shooter in drug deal

A 27-year-old man was wounded by gunfire during an alleged drug deal on McGee Lane near Hammond on Thursday night, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, who was not identified, remains in “guarded” condition at a hospital, a Sheriff’s Office news release says.

The victim told deputies that when he went to McGee Lane at 10 p.m. to buy cocaine, he was approached by two men, one of whom shot the victim in the neck, the news release says.

The victim said that as he drove away, several more shots were fired at his vehicle, the news release says.
