Woman arrested in Baker slaying

Police arrested a third suspect in the July 28 slaying of a Baton Rouge man shortly after she returned by bus late Monday night from Houston, Police Chief Mike Knaps said.

Knaps said police received a tip through the Crime Stoppers program that Kaitlan A. Brandon, 18, 10500 Hillmont Ave., was en route from Texas to Baton Rouge, and officers arrested her on Brady Street in Baton Rouge.

Brandon was wanted on counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon in the slaying of Abelardo D. Pampo, 43, of Baton Rouge.

Pampo was found shot to death on the grounds of the Baker Civic Club property on North Magnolia Drive.

Knaps said robbery was the motive in the slaying, and Brandon and Pampo knew each other from her work.

Last week, police arrested DeMarcus York, 18, 3017 Chippewa St., and Terry Jones, 22, 1163 N. 49th St., both of Baton Rouge, in the slaying.

Baton Rouge police also booked Brandon with possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm with drugs, according to booking records.

The two suspects were in jails on unrelated charges, Knaps said.
