Man to be booked following car chase, crash

PRAIRIEVILLE — A driver accused of leading police officers on a midnight high-speed chase Thursday in Ascension and East Baton Rouge parishes faces prosecution on multiple counts, State Police reported.
After John Michelli Jr., 46, of Gonzales, was ejected in the crash of his Pontiac Firebird at La. 73 and Airline Highway in Prairieville, he was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, troopers said in a news release Friday.
Once released, Michelli will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail with aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation, aggravated obstruction of a highway, driving while intoxicated, reckless operation, careless operation, hit-and-run, and no seat belt, State Police said.
