Arrest made in child shooting
Police said Tuesday they arrested one man and are looking for another in the shooting of a 15-year-old girl sitting in her home on Breckenridge Avenue.
Charles Sibley, 26, of 8121 Greenwell Springs Road, was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of aggravated battery, illegal use of a dangerous weapon and felon in possession of a firearm, police spokesman Sgt. Don Kelly said.
At 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sibley was driving in the 5600 block of Breckenridge when a man began shooting at his vehicle, Kelly said
Sibley got out of his vehicle, pulled out his own weapon and exchanged gunfire with the other man.
During the shootout, a teenage girl sitting at her computer in a nearby home was struck by a stray bullet, Kelly said. The girl, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital and treated for wounds that did not appear life threatening, police have said.
Police are still trying to locate the other man involved in the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident can contact police at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867
