Agency preparing to give out coats, toys
The St. James Parish Department of Human Resources is taking applications now through Dec. 2 for the 2011 Toy and Coat Program.
Parish President Dale J. Hymel Jr. announced the program would again this year distribute winter-appropriate clothing for families and small toys for children.
Applications are available to St. James residents at DHR, 5153 Cantella St., Convent. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays.
To download an application online, log onto the parish website and look under the “news room” tab for Toy and Coat Drive. Downloaded applications must be mailed to DHR at P.O. Box 87, Convent, LA, 70723.
Last year, donations from residents, businesses and the United Way provided coats to 70 children, Hymel said.
