Baton Rouge crime blotter: Man arrested in shooting

A man wanted on an attempted first-degree murder count in St. Martin Parish was booked Thursday in Baton Rouge.

Kelvin Batiste, 20, of St. Martinville, was arrested at a Baton Rouge apartment complex in the Aug. 18 home invasion and shooting, St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Capt. Ginny Higgins said in a release.

Three other suspects were previously arrested: Kee’cyric Warner, 17, of New Iberia, Kedrick Paul Broussard, 19, of Carencro, and Kecyiel Maleka Warner, 18, of New Iberia, Higgins said.

Batiste was transported Thursday to the St. Martin Parish jail, where no bail had been set. Bail for Broussard, Kee’cyric Warner and Kecyiel Maleka Warner was set at $500,000 each.

Authorities book BR man on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least one person suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to Parish Prison booking records between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Carl Grayson, 38, 3556 Ozark St., was booked on first-offense DWI, speeding, motor vehicle insurance required or expired, and possession of alcohol in vehicle.
