Motorcyclist killed when he lost control, slides on pavement

A 28-year-old Baton Rouge man was killed Sunday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Mohan Sheikh, of 10435 Grace Lane, was driving west in the 1700 block of Hoo Shoo Too Road at about 10:30 a.m. when he suddenly lost control and the motorcycle tipped over and the driver and the bike slid on the pavement, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

No one else was injured, Hicks said.

Sheikh was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. He was wearing a helmet, but the helmet had no strap, so it came off once he crashed, Hicks said.

Deputies took toxicology samples, but do not suspect intoxication was a factor, Hicks said.
