Parishwide Proposition

DISABLED VETERANS HOME-STEAD EXEMPTION

Authorizes an additional home-stead exemption for certain disabled veterans and surviving spouses for property in Vermil-ion Parish. The additional ex-emption would be authorized on the next $7,500 of assessed value on property owned and occupied by a veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 100% by the U.S. De-partment of Veteran Affairs, and the surviving spouse.

PROPOSITION NO. 1

To continue a 10-year, 7.69-mill property tax, generating about $157,000 a year, to maintain gravity drainage works. The tax is a 0.87 of a mill increase over the 6.82-mill tax voters authorized on Oct. 20, 2001, to be levied through 2011.

PROPOSITION NO. 2

To continue a 10-year, 3.59-mill property tax, generating about $73,000 a year, for gravity drainage works. The tax is a 0.41 of a mill increase over the 3.18-mill tax voters authorized on Oct. 20, 2001, to be levied through 2011.

(Kaplan and surrounding area)

To continue a 10-year, 8.61-mill property tax, generating an es-timated $335,000 a year, for public roads and highways. The tax is a 0.35 of a mill increase over the 8.26-mill tax voters authorized on Oct. 20, 2001, to be levied through 2011.
