Aug 26, 2014 13:57 BRFD: Iroquois Street house fire intentionally set BRFD: Iroquois Street house fire intentionally set Advocate staff report Aug. 26, 2014 Comments Baton Rouge fire investigators determined a Monday morning house blaze just east of Plank Road and north of Choctaw Drive was set intentionally. Firefighters arrived to the 2700 block of Iroquois Street about 5:20 a.m. to find several small fires burning inside a home, said Curt Monte, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman. The fire was under control within 10 minutes. A bedroom suffered the brunt of the damage caused by the fire, Monte said. At least one person lives at the home, but the person wasn’t home during the fire. Investigators on Monday were looking for anyone who lived at the home, Monte said. Fire investigators are still investigating a Sunday morning suspected arson at a home a few blocks northeast of Iroquois Street on Mission Drive. Several small fires also were set intentionally to spark that blaze, Monte said. Investigators don’t have any reason to believe the two arsons are related, although they haven’t ruled out the possibility, Monte said. Fire investigators ask anyone with information about these blazes to call them at (225) 354-1419.
