LET’S BOWL

WHAT: 9-Pin Bowling Tournament fundraiser for the Robert A. Bogan Fire Museum

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6

WHERE: Circle Bowl, 8878 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge

DETAILS: Money raised will be dedicated to restore and refurbish the museum, a nonprofit organization. In addition to bowling, there will be prizes, a 50/50 raffle, music, food and a cash bar. Trophies will be awarded for Most Spirited, Best Themed, Last Place and Best Overall among others. The fire station, first named the Central Fire Station, was renamed for Robert A. Bogan, who was the first paid fire chief and is considered the father of Baton Rouge fire fighting. The building was constructed as the department headquarters in 1924. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

WHERE: Audubon State Historic Site, La. 965, West Feliciana Parish

ADMISSION: $8 for ages 18-61; $6 for ages 62 and older; $4 for ages 6-17; free for ages 5 and younger. Come dressed in your Jane Austen-era finery and get in free.

VISITORS MAY BRUSH UP ON SOCIAL ETIQUETTE AT A TEA, AND, LATER IN THE DAY, ENJOY A PERIOD DANCE AS 1810-STYLE MUSIC FILLS THE AIR. AUDUBON STATE HISTORIC SITE IS THE SETTING FOR THE 200-YEAR-OLD OAKLEY HOUSE, TEMPORARY HOME AND INSPIRATION TO JOHN JAMES AUDUBON IN THE 1800S. THE PARK INCLUDES A MUSEUM, PICNIC AREAS, HISTORIC BUILDINGS, PAVILION AND NATURE TRAIL.

WINE & FOOD

WHAT: The Baton Rouge Irish Club’s annual Wine and Food Experience

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12

DETAILS: Hosted by WBRZ’s Whitney Vann, there will wine tasting and delicious food prepared and presented by popular restaurants, chefs, food vendors and vintners in the greater Baton Rouge area. The Jig Is Up, a Houston-based band, will play Irish music. Both a silent and a live auction, including jewelry from Jack Hood Jewelers, will be held.
