Another LSU commitment, East Ascension High running back Sione Palelei, is out for the year with a knee injury.

EAHS coach Paul Bourgeois said the school learned that Palelei’s injury suffered in a Week 5 win over Lutcher would end his season on Friday, prior to the Spartans’ win over McKinley.

Plaquemine defensive lineman Davon Godchaux suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Green Devils’ Week 1 game with East Ascension. Godchaux committed to the Tigers late last month after having knee surgery.

“He’s definitely out for the year and is waiting to have surgery,” Bourgeois said. “They’re going to repair the ACL and the MCL. And it’s so disappointing for us and for him. He was having the best year of any player I’ve had. He’s a play maker.”

Palelei had 752 yards rushing on 58 carries with 10 touchdowns. He also had 10 catches for 257 yards receiving with two more TDs for the Spartans through five games. He committed to LSU over the summer.
