Style File: John Parker Ford

NAME: John Parker Ford, Baton Rouge | AGE: 21 | OCCUPATION: Intern for Bobby Jindal’s Campaign for Re-election
Tell us about what you’re wearing.

“The purple-striped dress shirt is from Brooks Brothers, and I got a good deal on the suit, which is Kenneth Cole. The cotton tie has a blue and white gingham pattern.”

What most influences your style?

“Southern culture influences my style the most. I love gingham, seersucker and bow ties.”
What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever gotten?

“You’re not a man unless you own at least three monocles.” —John Oliver
What item do you find yourself buying over and over again?

“I enjoy buying a lot of ties. Any color and pattern but (not) solid.”
What trend do you wish was already over?

“I think the loafer dress shoe is coming back into style. I like laces, so if I had to pick a trend that I wish would end, it would have to be loafer dress shoes.”
Finish this sentence. I splurge on …

“Dress shirts. I love color, so I’m always finding new colors of dress shirts I like.”
I skimp on …

“Slacks. I don’t think anyone really notices how nice your pants are as long as you’re wearing some.”
Name a celebrity whose closet you’d like to raid.

“Charlie Sheen, but not for the clothes. I’d just really like to see what he keeps in his closet.”
Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet. What would it be?

“Whatever I bought from Brooks Brothers. That stuff is expensive. Unless it’s raining. I’d probably grab a raincoat if that were the case.
Make us laugh. What was your biggest fashion mistake?

“My biggest fashion mistake is perpetual. Apparently it’s a sin to like wearing skinny ties while residing in Louisiana. I can’t tell you how many friends make fun of me for it.”

Mr. Ford, I'm so sorry the paper saw fit to publish such a horrible quality picture.
