‘Project Runway’ designers headline BR’s first fashion week
The day area fashionistas and fashionista-wannabes have dreamed about for years is almost here. Thanks to local designer Anthony Ryan Auld, of “Project Runway” fame, Baton Rouge will host the first Mode Fashion Week Tuesday through June 2.
The event had to be rescheduled from its original dates, April 26-28, when movie production ran over at Celtic Media Center, one of the main venues.
With a little more time to plan, Auld, producer Drew Langhart and presenter Scene magazine have added a variety of workshops and VIP parties to the list of events that culminate in a showcase of the fashion collections of Auld and his fellow “Project Runway” designers — Olivier Green, Laura Kathleen, Bert Keeter and Joshua McKinley.
The style show takes place at the Belle of Baton Rouge Capital Atrium. Following the show, Scene, which covers film, TV, music and fashion in the state, hosts an after party to celebrate Louisiana’s burgeoning fashion industry.
Also in conjunction with Mode Fashion Week 2012, Auld will officially launch his foundation, The ROCKONE1 Movement. This nonprofit organization benefits cancer victims of all types — those diagnosed with the disease as well as those indirectly affected — with self-empowerment through fashion and a power mindset.
Tickets for all Mode Fashion Week events, including VIP access, are $110 and are available online at http://modefashionweek.webs.com.
