Tell us about what you’re wearing.
“I started out with the basics. A black skirt from Express with a plain black top and black ankle booties from Charlotte Russe. I then added grey tights, this fabulous black and white coat I got on sale from Ross, and finished it off with this colorful head scarf that my grandmother used to wear when she was younger.”
Who or what most influences your style?
“My mom and my grandma. My grandmother was a seamstress so both of them would design their own dresses, bags and even bathing suits. Through the years some of their clothing has found its way into my closet.”
What item do you find yourself buying over and over again?
“Shoes.”
So you’re a shoe kind of woman. How many pairs do you own?
“Let’s just say my walk-in closet is about 10-feet by 5-feet and I am going to have to invest in some shoe shelving because there’s hardly any clear floor space to walk on.”
What’s your favorite trend right now?“
The high waist. So classic and reminiscent of the silhouette from the ’40s. Love it.”
What trend do you wish was over?
“Boots with the fur.”
Finish this sentence. I splurge on …
“Jeans. There’s nothing better than a perfect-fitting pair of jeans, and once I find them I want them to last as long as possible.”
I skimp on …
“Jackets.”
Name a celebrity whose closet you’d like to raid.
“Blake Lively.”
What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?
“Aveda’s tinted moisturizer.”
Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet. What would it be?
“My Ribbon shoes. They’re 4.5 inches tall with black soles then teal, blue and deep purple satin ribbon laces all the way up to your ankle. They’re amazing.”
Make us laugh. What was your biggest fashion mistake?
“When I was in college, my first or second year, Uggs became really popular. So, I jumped on the bandwagon and showed up to class in a scarf and Ugg boots (fake ones to make it even better). I paired this winter wear with a short skirt and tank top. It was almost spring and I lived in LA. It’s hardly ever cold enough for Uggs there. Maybe that’s why some of us tried wearing them with a skirt and tank top? I don’t know, but all it did was make my neck and feet uncomfortably hot, and I looked ridiculous. One of my professors even asked me why I was wearing a scarf with a sleeveless shirt. If I was cold, I could have just worn sleeves. Point taken Mr. professor man.”
