The second annual Boudin & Beer, an indoor-outdoor food and music charity bash scheduled from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Nov. 2 at The Foundry, 333 St. Joseph St., New Orleans, will bring together boudin, beer, bourbon, wine, music and 50 of the nation’s top chefs, including co-hosts Emeril Lagasse, Mario Batali and Donald Link.

The food and music festival benefits the Emeril Lagasse Foundation, which provides grants to children’s educational programs, life skills development initiatives, culinary training and cultural enrichment in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast.

Lagasse, Link and Batali will be joined in the J.C. Penney Tasting Pavilion by 50 chefs, including some of New Orleans’ hottest, who will be cooking their versions of boudin, sausage or rustic, pork-inspired dishes. Guests also will be able to sample an array of craft brews provided by Abita Beer, a selection of bourbons by Buffalo Trace, specialty cocktails by Republic National Distributing Co., water by Fiji Water and wines from Au Bon Climat Winery in California.

“The success of last year’s Boudin & Beer was astounding,” Lagasse said in a news release. “This year, we’ve doubled the number of chefs participating and expect over 3,000 people to attend. It’s New Orleans’ newest culinary festival and all for a great cause.”

Southern Foodways Alliance will provide a boudin exhibit; live music will be provided by popular Cajun, New Orleans and alternative country acts, including Feufollet, Red Stick Ramblers and Drake White; the 610 Stompers will appear; and there will be games and raffles.

Boudin & Beer kicks off Emeril’s Carnivale du Vin weekend, which features the eighth annual Carnivale du Vin gala and charity wine auction Nov. 3 in La Nouvelle Ballroom at the New Orleans Convention Center, 900 Convention Center Blvd.; enter at Halls D/E.

The Nov. 3 gala, which will celebrate the jazz age of the 1920s, includes a 6 p.m. reception with food prepared by Lagasse and the chefs de cuisine from Lagasse’s restaurants; a 7 p.m. five-course wine dinner prepared by chefs Batali and Ladner, Marc Forgione, Tyler Florence with Sammy Hagar, Joseph Lenn and Michelle Gayer; a live auction at 9 p.m.; and at 10:30 p.m., Preservation Hall Jazz Band celebrates 50 years featuring Cassandra Wilson, Terrence Blanchard and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.

Wine Spectator Magazine ranks Carnivale du Vin among its top 10 U.S. charity wine auctions. Tickets are $1,000 per person.

The Emeril Lagasse Foundation was established in 2002 to improve the quality of young people’s lives. It supports children’s education and nonprofit organizations with culinary, nutrition, garden, arts and life skills programs. Among the programs are those at Edible Schoolyard New Orleans, St. Michael Special School, a culinary arts program at New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts and CafĂ© Reconcile.
