Special flavors make award-winning burger

This is not your ordinary burger.

It’s a well-seasoned chicken burger. The chicken is mixed with Panko bread crumbs, egg, onions, garlic and Asian hot chili sauce (which is a jar of hot sauce, made from a combination of chilies, garlic and a little sugar. It’s thicker than our Tabasco or Crystal sauces).

The patties are brushed with a mixture of teriyaki glaze and honey as they cook. Once cooked, they’re served on toasted buns topped with lettuce, cucumber and ginger mayonnaise. Make sure you use fresh ginger in the mayonnaise. The ginger with the garlic, sweet pickle relish and fresh lime juice ties all the flavors together. I mentioned this was not your ordinary burger. Kristine Snyder won $25,000 at the 45th National Chicken Cooking Contest in Baltimore in 2003 with this recipe.
