Black Walnut Ice Cream
Makes 1 quart. Recipe is from the American Black Walnut Marketing Board.
1 cup superfine sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 cups light cream
1 cup half-and-half
1/2 tsp. black walnut extract
1/2 to 3/4 cups black walnuts, chopped
1. Blend together sugars, cream, half-and-half and black walnut extract.
2. Pour into the container of an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. When ice cream is done, fold in black walnuts and transfer to a freezer container. Freeze until solid.
