What a Crock!: “Friendship sandwiches
Making family memories often includes food. For Jan Wilson, making those memories have meant making “Friendship Sandwiches” for her granddaughter and her friends for many years.
The recipe name “Friendship” stuck when one of her granddaughter’s friends misunderstood when told they were French Dip sandwiches. “She asked my granddaughter when we were having more of those friendship sandwiches,” she said.
Puzzled for a bit, Wilson soon realized the mistake.
However, it was through the sandwich that “we have, indeed, made many friends when we serve them,” Wilson said.
A sirloin tip roast trimmed of all excess fat is where this recipe begins. She also said she likes serving it on Pepperidge Farm Hot ‘N Crusty Twin Loaves.
She recommends that it be cooked in a large slow cooker and served with a small bowl of gravy on the side. The best thing is that it’s “finger-lickin’ good,” she said.
