Cocodrie Fruit Freeze
Serves 50. Recipe is from Mary Jane Howell, who says the mixture freezes well.
8 cups water
2 cups sugar
5 large bananas
1 (46-oz.) can pineapple juice
2 (12-oz.) cans frozen orange juice concentrate
6 orange juice cans of water
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 quarts ginger ale
Slices of fresh fruit, for garnish
1. Combine 8 cups water and sugar in large boiler. Boil for 10 minutes, then let cool.
2. Puree bananas in blender.
3. Add pineapple juice, orange juice concentrate, 6 orange juice cans of water, lemon juice and bananas to the sugar syrup. Mix thoroughly and freeze 6 hours in plastic containers.
3. Add ginger ale at serving time. Garnish with fresh fruit. Orange juice mixture should be slushy when you serve it. (Microwave for 3 minutes before serving.)
