Situated on 3.2 gently rolling West Feliciana acres in the Star Hill Trace subdivision north of Baton Rouge, the property at 12371 Starhill Trace offers 3,853 square feet of luxury living that overlooks a pair of private lakes. The entrance to Star Hill is south of St. Francisville on U.S. 61, a scenic drive from Baton Rouge that has but one red light at Zachary. It’s only about 25 minutes from Interstate 110, and it’s just 15 minutes from New Roads via the new Mississippi River Bridge.
Even if the route were longer, the trip would still be well worth it. Star Hill is an upscale development with lakes and acreage-sized lots. The brick home at 12371 Starhill Trace is situated along two of the lakes, one to the side and the other larger lake in back. The builder obviously had this in mind: the entire back of the home has windows with views of water.
A brick sidewalk curves up to a brick porch in front of the home, which is constructed of bricks painted white. Heart pine is the flooring of choice for most of the first level, and the main living area has 11-foot ceilings with extra-wide coffers. A formal dining area is between the living room and the kitchen, and a wide granite bar frames the opening between the formal dining area and the kitchen. Matching granite is on the 9-foot center island as well as the long counter tops in this very large cooking area. There are lots of cabinets too, along with a nice stainless appliance package. GE Monogram and Profile supply the icemaker, wine refrigerator and double wall ovens, while Whirlpool sent the dishwasher, refrigerator and five-burner propane gas cook top on the island. A stainless double sink is below a kitchen window.
The nearby keeping room has a brick fireplace and views of the lakes through windows that have a total of 24 panes. On the other side of the living room, a custom staircase climbs to the second floor. The home’s laundry room and powder room are near the foot of the stairs, and a study is also nearby, accessible via a pair of sliding pocket doors.
The master suite is at the end of a hall, with the master bedroom on the right and master bath on the left, separated by a big master closet. The bedroom also takes advantage of lake views with another 24-light window setup. Beautiful sisal flooring in the bedroom is in a brown shade, providing the perfect accent to the antique pine floors in the hall. The travertine master bath is long, with double vanities below a long custom mirror. A walk-in shower with a bench seat is adjacent to the whirlpool tub, which sits below a window.
Upstairs, meanwhile, there are two more bedrooms and a full bath. The home has “closet space for days,” said Sara Gummow, the Keller Williams Realty agent marketing the property. Included is a custom upstairs closet with built-in racks for guns and/or fishing rods. The home also has energy efficient double-paned windows throughout.
If you’re in the market for a luxury home in the country, but not too far from the city, you should check out this offering in Star Hill Trace. The home will be kept open today from 2-4 p.m.
