FOOD PICKUP VOLUNTEERS, Happi Llandiers — Helen Whitfield and Peggy Casanova, (225) 635-2301: Volunteers are needed to help pick up food from the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank on the third Tuesday of the month and deliver to the Happi Llandiers’ St. Francisville location. This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity.

REBUILDING BATON ROUGE, Rebuilding Together — Chris Andrews, (225) 358-7200 or director@rebuildingtogetherbatonrouge.org: Volunteers are needed to assist with neighborhood projects, including rebuilding and repairing homes for the elderly and the disabled.

Individuals and groups are needed.

SUMMER STEPS PROGRAM, McMains Children’s Developmental Center — Anne Hindrichs, (225) 923-3420 or ahindrichs@mcmainsscdc.org: Volunteers, at least 15 years old, are needed to assist teachers in reading and math enrichment. HELPING THE HOMELESS, Capital Area Alliance for the Homeless — Dillion Hall, (225) 388-5855 or dhall@homelessinbr.org: Volunteers are needed to assist the center in working with the homeless.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

BIG BUDDY MENTORSHIP, Big Buddy Program — Laurie Hardison, (225) 388-9737 or bigbuddyprogram.org: The Big Buddy Program sets up programs that follow children from elementary school through college. Volunteers can work with youth during after-school and summer programs or with staff at various agency events.

Volunteers also can become a one-to-one mentor for youth.

REBUILDING A PLAYGROUND, Wildwood Elementary School — Kristen Galloway, kristengalloway@att.net: Volunteers are needed to help rebuild a playground at Wildwood Elementary School on July 25-26.

Volunteers will help install swings, climbing areas and enclose play areas.
