BR Ballet program takes shows to Iberville Parish

Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s Ballet for Children program will bring two free performances of “Journey to the Emerald City: Healthy Stops and Healthy Swaps” to Iberville Parish on Wednesday, June 25.

The 10 a.m. show will be performed at MSA West Performance Arts Center, 57955 St. Lewis Road, Plaquemine, followed by the 2 p.m. performance at the White Castle High School cafeteria, 32695 Graham St., White Castle.

“Journey to the Emerald City: Healthy Stops and Healthy Swaps” brings Cajun Marie out of Louisiana and into the magical land of Oz as familiar characters such as Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man introduce students to dance and nutrition.

Ballet for Children is designed for elementary-age children and includes an audience participation portion complete with instruction on ballet exercises, terms and fun facts.
