Charity Ball Association to honor 16 debutantes

The Charity Ball Association of Baton Rouge will present 16 young women at its annual Le Bal de Noel on Dec. 27. The 2014 debutantes will be honored Wednesday at a French picnic at the home of Dr. Stephen and Jane Sherman.

Debutantes are Riley Elizabeth Donohue, daughter of Susan and James Donohue; Caroline Grace Gikas, daughter of Carol and Kenneth Gikas; Mimi Marilyn Guercio, daughter of Ann and Robert Guercio; Catherine Hayden Queyrouze James, daughter of Mia and Jeffrey James, and Curt Queyrouze, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lauren Elizabeth LeBlanc, daughter of Jean Ann and Jules Burton Le-Blanc IV; Riley Shannon McKernan, daughter of Shannon and Gordon McKernan; Mary Alexandra Montes de Oca, daughter of Mary and Fermin Montes de Oca IV; Caroline Kalil Morgan, daughter of Remi and Jeffrey Jenkins and the late Douglas Morgan; Sarah Anne Nelson, daughter of Dr. Scott and Penny Nelson; Nicole Pamela Newton, daughter of Patty and Carl Newton; Marit Erickson Schroeder, daughter of Denise and Eric Schroeder; Lauren Elizabeth Talbert, daughter of Susan and Kyle Talbert; Caroline Elizabeth Whitley, daughter of Dr. John and Elizabeth Whitley; Emilie Harang Winder, daughter of Dr. Carey and Carolyn Winder; Hannah Louise Womack, daughter of Ellen and Milton Womack Jr.; and Riley Elizabeth Womack, daughter of Ellen and Milton Womack Jr.

Riley Elizabeth Donohue, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where she is a member of Chi Omega sorority, Phi Eta Sigma National Freshman Academic Honor Society, Public Relations Student Society of America and Future Alumni for Tradition and Excellence. She is the granddaughter of Florence Mouton, of Lafayette, and the late John Mouton; and Marie Donohue, of Abbeville, and the late John Paul Donohue.

Caroline Grace Gikas, a graduate of Episcopal High School, attends The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she is a member of Alpha Delta Theta Sorority, Student Outdoor Program and co-host of a radio program for the college station WUTS. She is the granddaughter of Gus Nestor Gikas and the late Lillian Gikas and the late Orvella and John Sommerfeldt.

Mimi Marilyn Guercio, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends LSU, where she is a member of Chi Omega sorority. She is the granddaughter of P.J. LeBlanc Jr. and the late Jane LeBlanc, the late Marilyn Perry and the late Thomas Guercio.

Catherine Hayden Queyrouze James, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends LSU, where she is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is the granddaughter of Billy and Evelyn James, of Ruston; Gayle Queyrouze, of New Orleans, and the late Jim Queyrouze, the late Mary Crovetto and the late L.W. Crovetto.

Lauren Elizabeth LeBlanc, a graduate of University High School, attends the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where she is a member of Chi Omega Sorority and Alabama FATE. She is the granddaughter of Mary Evelyn McKernan Kinamore and the late Joseph “Jerry” McKernan, and Nancy Chesson and Jules Burton Le-Blanc III.

Riley Shannon McKernan, a graduate of University High School, attends LSU, where she is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She is the granddaughter of Laura and Jimmy Field, Mary Evelyn Kinamore and the late Joseph “Jerry” McKernan.

Mary Alexandra Montes de Oca, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where she is a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She is the granddaughter of Ann and Charles Valluzzo, Deanna Montes de Oca, of Sun City, Fla., and the late Fermin Montes de Oca III.

Caroline Kalil Morgan, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends LSU. She is the granddaughter of Jean and Edward Pratt, of Lafayette, and Dr. Thurman and Kay Morgan.

Sarah Anne Nelson, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends LSU where she is a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Southern Smash Ambassadors. She is the granddaughter of the late Evelyn and Daniel Hoffman Jr. and Alice Nelson and Dr. Jack Nelson.

Nicole Pamela Newton, a graduate of Episcopal High School, attends Birmingham Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama, where she is a member of the varsity soccer team. She is the granddaughter of Peggy Selber, of Shreveport, and the late Aaron Selber Jr. and Bernice Newton, of Bunkie, and the late Durwood Newton.

Marit Erickson Schroeder, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends LSU, where she is a member of Delta Zeta Sorority, Honors College and serves as a volunteer for St. Lillian Academy. She is the granddaughter of Rosemary Groves and the late Edwin Groves, Gail and Dr. William Pryor and Dr. Rolf Schroeder.

Lauren Elizabeth Talbert, a graduate of the Dunham School, attends Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, where she is a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She is the granddaughter of Barbara and Gwin Montgomery and the late Betty and Henry Talbert.

Caroline Elizabeth Whitley, a graduate of Episcopal High School, attends LSU, where she is a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She is the granddaughter of Barbara and Roby Bearden Jr., Helen Whitley and the late John Whitley.

Emilie Harang Winder, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, where she is a member of Phi Mu Sorority, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Southern Smash Ambassadors and UGA Miracle Committee. She is the granddaughter of Bernice Harang, of Thibodaux, and the late Warren Harang Jr. and Dr. Paul and Myra Winder, of Shreveport.

Hannah Louise Womack, a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, attends LSU, where she is a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is the granddaughter of Anita Evans, Foye Lowe Jr. and the late Barbara and Milton Womack Sr.

The Charity Ball Association was formed in 1959 by a group of civic-minded people who wanted to support the community by contributing to local charities. This year’s recipient is Of Moving Colors.

Association officers are Andrea McKey, president; Angie Herpin, vice president; Susan Maxwell, secretary; Mary Leah Walke, treasurer; Kelly Field and Holland Nader, ball chairwomen; and Beth Ruiz, debutante liaison.
