One of my favorite spring events takes place this coming Saturday night — Baton Rouge Ballet’s “Dancin’ in the Streets” block party fundraiser at Perkins Rowe. It all starts at 7 p.m. with food from some of the city’s best restaurants and caterers, and dancing to the sounds of Phat Hat. Get your tickets online at batonrougeballet.org/dancinstreets.html or call (225) 766-8379. Save me a dance!
Scholarships totaling $8,000 were handed out at the Woman’s Hospital Auxiliary’s March 30 luncheon at the new East Baton Rouge Parish Goodwood Main Library. Receiving the $1,000 scholarships to pursue their career in healthcare were Brianna Bauer, Allyson Belgard, Maxwell Burch, Cynthia Hodnett, Emily Lasseigne, Emily McMann, Jennifer Nickens and Rachel Podnar. Mallory Pritchard won the Outstanding Junior Volunteer Award.
The day’s agenda also included a tour of the new library, conducted by assistant director Mary Stein.
