If an author writes an e-book and it publishes, does it make a noise? Absolutely. Don Bacque’s “A Walk in the Park: A Vietnam Comedy” was welcomed with open arms by fans and well-wishers at The Village Café in River Ranch. Gathered for wine, hors d’oeuvres and a little Author! Author! were Steve and Cherry May, book editor and artist Rocky Perkins, Claire and Barry Bohn, Pam Blanchet, Ed Rylee, man-about-town Sterling Lejeune and food blogger extraordinaire George Graham. “I feel important,” said Bacque, who regaled the guests with — what else? — a war story. “Each of us has a story in us, maybe a book.” Bacque, who served in Vietnam in the Special Forces and later in the state Legislature, where he says he was shot at more in Baton Rouge. War is hell, Don.
