More than 300 racing fans and supporters of the Baton Rouge Regional Eye Bank boarded buses early the morning of March 13 to travel to the New Orleans Fair Grounds for the Baton Rouge Eye Bank Auxiliary’s annual “Day at the Races” fundraiser. The event was chaired by Claudia McCall and Vivian Frey.
Winners in the Grand Raffle were Debbie Ellis, two round-trip plane tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. courtesy of Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport; Joy Smith, sterling silver buckle bracelet from Robert Roth Jewelers; Cheryl Fondina and Stacy Beasley, each a one-night stay and dinner for two at Bon Temps Buffet at L’Auberge Casino & Resort; David Bradley, a Zoom teeth whitening from Dr. Thomas Foster; and Patty Freeman, basket of restaurant gift certificates donated by Flemings, Juban’s, La Creole, Superior Grill, Ruffino’s, Portico’s, Louisiana Lagniappe, DiGiulio Brothers’ Café and Southern Specialty Foods.
Other drawing winners included Michell Bond, 43-inch Samsung Plasma HDTV; Bruce Silva, gift certificate from La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery; Nona Robillard, spa makeover package from Ma Maison Salon; Pat Neyland, $500 shopping spree at Courtyard Gifts & Interiors; and Brenda Drushel, framed print by Jack Jaubert. Mary Ann Nelson won the attendance prize, a $100 gift certificate donated by Whole Foods; and Railler Wiltz won the framed artwork donated by Dottie Michelli.
