Baked Bananas

Serves 6. Recipe is from the late Celia Millstein Oppenheim, of Jackson, Miss. This works as a Passover side dish or with whipped cream as a dessert.

3 tbls. butter, divided

6 firm bananas, peeled but left whole

1 tbl. fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup light brown sugar

Whipped cream, if desired

1. Butter a medium baking dish and put in whole bananas in a single layer. Sprinkle with lemon juice and brown sugar. Dot with remaining butter.

2. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for about 25 minutes until bananas are hot and sugar is melted. Serve hot with whipped cream, if desired.
