Advocate staff report April 10, 2014 Comments The Baton Rouge Blues Festival, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. April 12 in downtown Baton Rouge, is expanding to three stages. The Gospel/Soul Stage, to be located on Lafayette Street adjacent to the Shaw Center for the Arts, will feature local groups Gifted Praisers, Speakeasy, Da Vocalaires and OMT. The newly announced acts join the previously scheduled lineup headlined by Dr. John and The Nite Trippers and featuring Kenny Neal with Henry Gray, Black Joe Lewis, Naomi Shelton and The Gospel Queens, Lil Freddie King, Johnny Sansone, Lil Buck Sinegal, Black Pistol Fire, Chris LeBlanc, Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys, Brother Dege and The Brethren and Baton Rouge Music Studios. In addition to the festival’s exterior-stage musical performances, interviews with artists and informal performances will take place in the Old State Capitol senate chambers.
