Louisiana Public Broadcasting will re-air “Pete Seeger: The Power of Song — American Masters” at 10:30 p.m. Friday on LPB-HD (cable Channel 1012) and 8:30 p.m. Sunday on LPB2 (cable Channel 122).
Seeger died Monday at the age of 94.
The show is the first authorized film biography that documents Seeger’s unique experience and contributions. The folk singer believed in the power of song and using music as a force for social change.
With critics, including the U.S. government, Seeger went from the top of the charts to the top of the blacklist, and was banned from commercial television for more than 17 years.
Seeger’s story is told by everyone from Bob Dylan to the Dixie Chicks and through a vast historical archive.
