The “New Year, New You” weekend starts at 9 a.m. Saturday with “The Omni Health Solution” with Tana Amen, a registered nurse and Dr. Daniel Amen. The show explains how certain foods affect one’s genes. “3 Steps to Incredible Health” with Dr. Joel Fuhrman at 10:30 a.m. offers tips on how to lose weight safely and efficiently. At noon, it’s “Deepak Chopra: What Are You Hungry For?” This program explains the scientific basis of hunger and how to satisfy those cravings in a healthy way. At 1:30 p.m., “Brain Change” with Dr. David Permutter tells how sugar, wheat and carbohydrates can affect one’s brain. After all that deep thinking, viewers can take in a musical interlude to relax. “The Best of the ’60s” goes back to that decade with performances by The Monkees, New Rascals, The Fifth Dimension and many others. There’s an encore showing of “Brain Change” at 9 a.m. Sunday, followed at 10:30 a.m. by the “Hunter-Farmer Healthy Weight Solution” with Dr. Mark Liponis. This show tells how to identify what type of metabolism one has and the best way to lose weight with that type of metabolism. At noon, “Ed Slott’s Retirement Rescue for 2014!” explains how to get finances in order in this ever-changing economy.
