COME TOGETHER FOR CHRISTMAS, Catholic Charities — Kayla Moscona at (225)336-8700 ext. 404 or kmoscona@ccdiobr.org: Catholic Charities Community Comes Together for Christmas program connects donors, volunteers and families in need to help make the holidays joyous for all.

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 13-14 and Dec. 16-18 to receive, wrap and distribute thousands of Christmas gifts.

HOLIDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, Salvation Army — La Guardia Collins at (225) 355-4483: Volunteers are needed to help with holiday gift distribution and the ringing of the bells.

Some 2,500 individuals with receive toys, shoes, clothing and food boxes through the holiday gift distribution. Volunteers will be needed until Dec. 20 at the distribution site in Cortana Mall. In addition, groups are also needed to ring bells through Christmas Eve.

ADVANCE THE COMMON GOOD, Capital Area United Way — Wendy Abboud at (225) 346-5804 or wendya@cauw.org: Community Investment Volunteers make lasting change in the Capital Area by evaluating the programs of Capital Area United Way Community Partner Agencies, determining how United Way dollars are invested and working to discover how to meet immediate needs as well as make long-term changes in the lives of individuals.

Capital Area United Way is working through a long-term vision for the organization and what this means for the community.

Become a part of the process as a program investment volunteer and/or as a participant in upcoming community conversations next year.

OPPORTUNITY FOR ANIMAL LOVERS, Companion Animal Alliance — Cathy Coates (225) 774-7701: Volunteers are needed at the East Baton Rouge shelter to walk dogs, socialize cats, transport animals, answer the phones, enter data and more.

CARING INDIVIDUALS NEEDED, Baton Rouge General Hospital, Katherine Neal (225) 381-6601: Enthusiastic and caring individuals are needed to volunteer at both the Mid City and Bluebonnet locations. A variety of shifts and departments are available at either campus to fit your schedule. Volunteers are asked to commit to one 4-hour shift per week. Strong customer service skills a plus.
