ZOOM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo — Connie Riddle, (225) 775-3877, ext. 250: On Saturday, runners will take off on a 5K course around BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo going past the lions, tigers, bears and more. Help is needed to greet runners, staff the course and help with the events afterward. To volunteer for Zoo Zoom, fill out an “event volunteer” form at http://brzoo.org. LEND A HAND, The Shepherd’s Market — Theresa Sandifer, (225) 337-1307, email@example.com: The Shepherd’s Market, a client-choice food pantry in south Baton Rouge, is looking for volunteers to help serve its clients. There are three shifts available to help on pantry days: Mondays from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesdays/Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Help is also needed to stock large food deliveries, harvest fresh produce from the community garden, and organize food drives. Spanish-speaking volunteers that can provide translation services for clients are especially welcome. If interested, contact Sandifer.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, Ochsner Health System — La Marylis Newman, (225) 755-4986: Ochsner Medical Center -Baton Rouge, located at I-12 and O’Neal on Medical Center Drive, has volunteer opportunities available in surgery waiting, front information desk and patient surveys. Clerical and greeter volunteers are needed at the following Baton Rouge clinics: Ochsner Clinic-Summa and Picardy (near the Mall of Louisiana); Ochsner Clinic-Jefferson Highway (near Essen Lane); and Plaza I-Medical Center Drive, first building on the left next to hospital. VOLUNTEER IN THE OUTDOORS, Trees and Trails at Burden Center — Pamela Rupert, (225) 763-3990 or email TnTDocents@gmail.com: Trees and Trails at Burden Center, sponsored by the Burden Horticulture Society and LSU AgCenter’s Botanic Gardens, is looking for additional volunteers to help lead or guide students through their outdoor environmental programs. Fun, interactive activities for grades K-2nd and 3rd-7th are conducted from mid-September through mid-November, teaching students about the value of nature. Volunteers select the days that work best with their schedules. For more information, come to an orientation and overview from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 13, at the Burden Conference Center, I-10 at Essen.
