Sign language group celebrates third year

Communicating Thru Sign celebrated its third year of teaching sign language classes in Baton Rouge on July 20. Founded by Carol Taylor-Elam, CTS was established to spread awareness about deaf culture and sign language and to bridge the communication gap between the deaf and hearing communities.

CTS is offering free basic sign language classes every other Saturday from Aug. 10 through Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the East Baton Rouge Parish Carver Branch Library. To register, email info@communicatingthrusign.com or communicatingthrusign@gmail.com.

Plans are under way for the CTS 2014 “Praises on the Runway” summer fashion show. For information about CTS, visit communicatingthrusign.com.
