“Club News” column for July 23, 2013 “Club News” column for July 23, 2013 Advocate story Aug. 01, 2013 Comments Exchange Club of BR installs new officers The Exchange Club of Baton Rouge installed 2013-14 officers and board members at its June 29 annual banquet. New officers are Mary Gauthier-Lewis, president; Doug Robertson, president-elect; Elva Jo Crawford, secretary; Richard Flicker, treasurer; Sou Hayes, immediate past president; and Bill Prince, vice president of communications. Board members are Lillian Grossley, Glen Standiford, Nadine Couper, Michael Prince, Lizz Sanchez and Alma Geathers. Rebecca Prince, a past club president and charter member, was recognized as the Exchangite of the Year. Flicker is the host committee chairman for the National Exchange Club’s 2014 convention to be held in New Orleans; Sanchez serves on the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast District Board. The club honored Callie Johnson and Madeline Flechas, both recent graduates of St. Joseph’s Academy. Johnson received the Janet M. Marquette Youth of the Year Award. Flechas received the Janet L. Barnes ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) of the Year Award. The Exchange Club of Baton Rouge hosted its annual District convention at the Embassy Suites in Baton Rouge, also in June. Exchange Clubs work to improve communities through projects in youth, education, Americanism and community service, with a primary focus on child abuse prevention. The Exchange Club of Baton Rouge meets at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Panda Chinese Buffet.
