Give local celebrities tips and help a good cause.

WHAT: Baton Rouge Children’s Advocacy Center and its board of directors’ seventh annual Celebrity Waiter Event.

WHEN: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

DETAILS: Mingle with LSU and SU coaches and local celebrities as they compete for your tips. There will also be one-of-a-kind live and silent auction items, complimentary soda, beer, wine and food.

Wine Gala

Help Swine Palace get ready for the 2013-2014 season.

WHAT: Wine Gala to benefit Swine Palace.

WHEN: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

WHERE: Reilly Theatre, Tower Drive, LSU campus.

DETAILS: The Fresh Market, B&B Staff Tenders and Lance Hayes Flowers will sponsor the event to benefit one of Louisiana’s premier professional theater companies and the Swine Palace in Our Schools Education programming. There will be an assortment of champagne and wines, as well as food and live music. Raffle tickets will be sold for $5 for the chance to win an instant wine cellar — 25 bottles valued at more than $650. There also will be a silent auction.

Bastille Day

WHEN: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

WHERE: Old State Capitol House Chamber, 100 North Blvd.

ADMISSION: Free.

DETAILS: Discussions on the state’s French connection will be by Bill Arceneaux, president of CODOFIL; Florent Hardy, director of Louisiana Archival Services; and Paul West, site manager of SNF Flopam in Plaquemine. Special guest will be Jean-Claude Brunet, consul general of France at New Orleans. A reception will be held prior to the discussion.

Mid City Dream

Join in an evening of art, shopping and refreshments.

WHAT: The third annual A Mid City Night’s Dream.

WHEN: 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

WHERE: Mid City Art & Design Cultural District, Baton Rouge.

DETAILS: Participating businesses will be Artvark Ltd., Brew Ha Ha!, Caffery Gallery, Elizabethan Gallery, Mosaic Garden, My Louise, Rue Cou Cou and Sally’s Circa 1857. It’s on rain or shine.
