Albany KC, Auxiliary install new officers
St. Margaret Knights of Columbus Council 10178 Albany, Albany Assembly 2801 Fourth Degree Knights and Ladies Auxiliary installed officers at a joint banquet on June 9.
KC Council 10178 officers for 2013-14 are Grand Knight Francis Ivanyisky, Deputy Grand Knight Charles Roach, Chancellor Fred Gauthier, Financial Secretary Mark Chemay, Recorder Alan Dale, Warden John Gaeta, Treasurer Joseph Hanewinkel, Lecturer Barry Desselles, Advocate Kevin Miano, Inside Guard David Nezat, Outside Guard Edward Garro Jr., Chaplain Jamin David, and Trustees Ronnie Randazzo, Peter Pfiffner and David Littlejohn.
Ladies Auxiliary officers are President Pauline Frisbie, Vice President Lydia Brabham, Recording Secretary Lucie Hanewinkel, Treasurer Julie Desselles, Corresponding Secretary Marie Prokop, board member Liz Bordok and Parliamentarian Lynn Gerhardt.
Fourth-degree officers are Chemay, faithful navigator; Gauthier, faithful captain; Desselles, faithful pilot; Ivanyisky, faithful comptroller; Gaeta, faithful scribe; Joseph Hanewinkel, faithful purser; Philip Brabham and Rodney Fontenot, faithful sentinels; Dale, faithful admiral; the Rev. Jamin David, faithful friar; and Edward Sarran, Pfiffner and Charles Roach, faithful trustees.
Randazzo prepared dinner, assisted by Glenn Young, Garro, Littlejohn and Gauthier. The auxiliary provided desserts. Guest speakers were Past State Deputy Steve Thomas and State Secretary Vernon Ducote.
Patricia Randazzo was awarded Lady of The Year. Fred and Rose Gauthier were awarded Family of the Year. Gaeta was awarded Knight of the Year. Ivanyisky was awarded Sir Knight of the Year, as well as the KofC Louisiana State Council Certificate of Merit.
Metropolitan Lions installs new officers
The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Lions Club installed officers on June 10 at L’Auberge Casino: Matthew W. Pitts, president; Bernard Whitley, first vice president; Elbert Hill, second vice president; Edward Yearby, third vice president; Evelyn Kirk, secretary; Henry Allen, financial secretary; Lionel Patrick, treasurer; David Wilson, Lion tamer; Johnny Fontenot, tail twister; and Melvin Steele, chaplain. Board members are Huey Johnson, Lloyd Hinton, Kimberly Sterling and Allen.
Pennington director honored by ESGR
Tiffany Stewart, director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center Behavior Technology Laboratory, received a Patriotic Service Award on June 6 recognizing the center’s extraordinary support of its employee serving in the Louisiana Guard and Reserve.
Col. Jerald Juneau made the presentation. She was nominated by 1st Lt. Paul Mounts, an Army Reserve employee, for being highly supportive of the Louisiana Army National Guard. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.
