Neighbors Notes for July 2, 2013


U.S. MILITARY ACADEMY GRADUATION: Cadet Benton Conque, son of Angele and Clint Conque, of Conway, Ark., recently graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. He is the grandson of Jackie Conque, of Baton Rouge, and his father is a graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge.

Conque graduated from Conway High School in 2008 and the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School in 2009.

While at West Point, he majored in defense and strategic studies and completed a sequence in environmental engineering. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Chemical Corps and will report to Fort Hood, Texas, for his first assignment. Lt. Conque will be assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor, country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the U.S. Army.

BROOKS COMPLETES BASIC: Army Pvt. Stanley P. Brooks Jr. has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Alma and Kevin Scott, and Stanley Brooks Sr., all of Baton Rouge, and a 2005 graduate of Dutchtown High School in Geismar.
