BRUP discusses electronic meetings

The Baton Rouge Unit of Parliamentarians discussed the pros and cons of electronic meetings and motions to reconsider on March 26 at the Crowne Plaza hotel. New members Nicole Learson and Trent Garrett were welcomed.

Members agreed to market the organization by adopting a school, encouraging students to compete in parliamentary procedures contest, encouraging elected officials to sponsor a resolution making April Parliamentary Law Month, putting flyers in libraries and designing a Facebook page.

Barry Brooks was elected secretary at the biennial convention of the Louisiana Association of Parliamentarians.

Brooks and Carole Gloger were elected delegates to attend the National Association of Parliamentarians’ convention in September.

Trianon presents donation to The Arc

Trianon, the auxiliary to The Arc of Baton Rouge, made a donation to The Arc of Baton Rouge from proceeds of the 2012 fundraising event on March 28 at The Arc’s office. Treasurer Lynn Robbins made the presentation to Barry Meyer, executive director of The Arc.

The club met earlier that day at Christy Harelson’s home. President Tammy Duos gave an update on plans for the 2013 annual event to be held Nov. 15 at the Crowne Plaza hotel. Event chairwoman Stella Goodbee named the people who will be in charge of the program. Blanche Haydell announced that Raffaele Women’s Clothier will be in charge of the style show.
