“Style File” column for March 19, 2013

NAME: Wendy Shiroda

AGE: 43

OCCUPATION: Stay-at-home mom and a certified public speaker for LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency)

Tell us about what you’re wearing. “Green boiled-wool sweater by Luii that I found at Hollydays. I liked it so much that I also bought it in purple, orange and black. I also have on a black top from Old Navy, Levi jeans, gold wedges from DSW and a leopard belt from DSW. My necklace came from Apricot Lane.”

What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever gotten? “Less is more, and your smile is your best accessory.”

What’s your favorite trend right now? “I love wearing wedges (shoes) with jeans. Leopard print is fabulous! I would wear it all the time but since less is more I limit my animal instincts to shoes, purses and belts.”

Finish these sentences. I splurge on ... “Moisturizer for my face, funky tunic tops, wedges and cowboy boots”

I skimp on ... “Manicures and makeup.”

Are you a shoe or handbag kind of woman? “Shoes, not high heels though. I need a little balance in my life.”

How many pairs do you own? “I currently have 58 pairs of shoes. I just cleaned out my closet and donated 40 pairs.”

Name a celebrity whose closet you’d like to raid. “Bethenny Frankel’s.”

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without? “Clinique chubby lipstick.”

What was your worst fashion mistake? “Anything that I wore in the ’80s, big hair included.”

Your house is on fire and you can grab only one thing out of your closet; what would it be? “My boiled-wool long sweaters by Luii, that’s one thing, but in all the colors I have.”
