Dress giveaway

Let the Cinderella Project get you ready for prom.

WHAT: The Cinderella Project helps financially in-need high school students and brides select from an assortment of donated prom dresses and wedding gowns.

WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

WHERE: Louisiana State Police Headquarters - Cafeteria, 7901 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge.

DETAILS: Students should bring high school ID, a current report card or a letter from a teacher, counselor or principal confirming enrollment at a Louisiana high school and come with a female parent, guardian or relative older than 18. Brides do not need to provide proof of financial need; dresses are distributed on the honor system. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Each student or bride will be paired with a volunteer personal shopper, who will guide her through the inventory during a 30-minute shopping appointment. Private dressing rooms will be provided.

Music for Swaziland

Enjoy music and help missionaries Daran and Teresa Rehmeyer, of Baton Rouge, buy a new bus to transport patients in Swaziland.

WHAT: “Reaching Out For A Cause,” a musical benefit hosted by Capital City Rotary club to help the Rehmeyers and also the Baton Rouge Center For World Affairs and The Possibility Project.

WHEN: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

DETAILS: Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. The first hour will be a reception with a silent auction, musical entertainment and hor d’oeuvres from Heirloom Cuisine. Featured musicians include violinist Unkyoung Kim, violist Jennifer Cassin, Chinese pipa player Amelia Xue and The Runnels School String Orchestra conducted by Jennifer Cassin. Baton Rouge Ethnic Dancers will also perform.
