DETAILS: Get introduced to the LSU Performing Arts Academy’s new LSU Community Choir, a program designed to provide adults who enjoy singing with a creative outlet while building their knowledge about the voice and singing technique. The choir will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays for 11 weeks and conclude with a performance in May. Monday’s open house is free but tuition for the full 11 weeks is $135.

DETAILS: Youth Oasis Children’s Shelter will host its first “Band Fest” featuring local bands competing to win an opportunity to play at a renowned venue. The bands are The Michael Foster Project, Nice Dog, The Upper Two, Red Panda and Young Band Nation Blues Project. The fest will support the shelter’s programs, which help at-risk children in the area. Tickets are $15 each. Tickets with jambalaya are $20. Participants can purchase tickets online or by calling.

LIVESTOCK SHOW

DETAILS: Gumbo lunches are available for dine in or pick up and are $10 each. They include shrimp or chicken and sausage gumbo, Sensation Salad, bread and a dessert. Dine-in customers will also get water, tea or coffee. Pick-up orders must be made between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday mornings. Boxed lunches can also be ordered as well as pints and quarts of gumbo, rice, coleslaw, dessert servings and bread by the loaf.
