Extra: Madison Knapp plans to attend Southeastern Louisiana University in the fall and work toward a major in nursing and then a master’s degree to become a nurse anesthetist. In January, she was among 55 students to participate in CI:Healthcare, a one-day program offered by Central Louisiana Area Health Education Center and Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge. Its aim: help high achieving high school juniors and seniors explore nursing and allied health fields by rotating through various hospital departments and interacting with faculty. “The programs I attended have helped me greatly in informing on what my career decision should be,” Knapp said.
