Feb 11, 2013 18:10 Neighbors Notes for Feb. 5, 2013 Neighbors Notes for Feb. 5, 2013 Advocate story Feb. 11, 2013 Comments Academic LSU TEAM PLACES FIFTH: The LSU Law Center’s Arbitration Team of Andrew Baer, Zachary Ferguson, Michael Laborde and Linda Matta placed fifth at the ABA Arbitration Competition’s national championship on Jan. 25 in Chicago. Coached by Jim Carver, the team advanced to the national championship after winning a regional round in November, beating last year’s national champion, Texas Tech University School of Law. One of four practical skills competitions sponsored by the American Bar Association, the arbitration competition promotes greater knowledge of alternative dispute resolution by simulating a realistic arbitration hearing. Participants prepare and present an arbitration case, including opening statements, witness examinations, exhibit introductions, evidentiary presentations and summations to a panel of experienced arbitrators. This year’s case file dealt with a medical malpractice dispute. Military RICHARDSON COMPLETES BASIC: Air National Guard Airman Quenton J. Richardson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Cynthia Richardson and grandson of Marie Brown, both of Baton Rouge, and is a 2003 graduate of Glen Oaks High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from Southern University. KELLY COMPLETES BASIC: Air Force Airman 1st Class Molly C. Kelly graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Maryellen and David Kelly, of Baton Rouge, and is a 2012 graduate of St. Michael the Archangel High School.
