‘MAGIC, MATH AND MEMORY’

CAMELLIA SHOW

  • DETAILS: Pointe Coupee Office of Tourism will hold a Pet Adoption Day. The event is held every second Saturday of the month. It is free to visit the animals, but participants must pay a small fee to adopt a pet.

FOUNDATION EVENT

  • EVENT: Foundation for Historical Louisiana’s annual Lagniappe Tours excursion.

  • DETAILS: The Foundation for Historical Louisiana will have its annual Lagniappe Tours excursion to celebrate Fat Tuesday. Participants will take a trip to New Orleans to view the krewes of Rex and Zulu as well as the marching bands, clubs and truck parades with reserved seats. Participants will also visit Le Pavilion Hotel where there will be a Creole buffet. Access to the hotel will continue throughout the day. Tickets are $150 for FHL members and $175 for nonmembers. Tickets include the bus trip, guide, grandstand tickets and the buffet. Space is limited.

COMMUNITY REWARDS

  • DETAILS: Gulf Coast Bank & Trust will give $50,000 to 10 local nonprofits as part of its Community Rewards program. The program is open to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that are in good standing in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard and East Baton Rouge parishes. Gulf Coast Bank & Trust will choose the nonprofits with the most votes. Nonprofits can sign up for the program online at http://www.communityrewards.com and participants can vote once per day for their preferred organization on the same website. Voting will end at 5 p.m. Monday, March 4.

SALUTE TO SR. SERVICE

  • DETAILS: Home Instead Inc. will sponsor Salute to Senior Service, a program that honors the contributions of adults, ages 65 and older, who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service. Home Instead Inc. will donate $500 to each of the state winners’ favorite nonprofit organizations and post their stories on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. It will give $5,000 to the national winner’s nonprofit charity of choice. Voters will choose the state winners and a panel of senior care experts will choose the national winner out of the state winners. Nominations will be accepted until March 31 and can be done online or by mail. Online voting will start April 15 and end April 30.
